Moreno Donadel Trio
The Latin Side of Town
The Italian pianist is back after a month of Olympic gigs ¡ more importantly his trio is back together. Before that Olympic thing, this trio was working out a repertoire focusing on Afro-Cuban jazz and we¡¯re happy they¡¯re getting back to the real work. Expect the breadth, from Bop to Latin. Christophe Lier Organ Trio
featuring Matt Roberts on and Scott Silverman
The Frenchman returns well-rested from holiday with new tunes in hand. For his first gig back, Christophe brings together an organ trio with the low end held down by Ah Q bandleader/trombonist/composer Matt Roberts and Scott Silverman on drums. Expect compositions from these two veterans of the Beijing scene.

Christophe finishes off the second night of drummerless trio music with a special guest trombonist and Hu Hao on bass to carry the tunes while he takes over the rhythmic comping ¨C the piano IS a rhythm instrument!

Nathaniel Gao Quartet
Brother Gao is a saxophonist/composer who leads the high profile Red Hand Jazz Quartet as well as many ensembles of his own. Expect a mixed bag of grooves to include standards and originals by himself and friends. And if pianist Xia Jia isn¡¯t on the road with Cui Jian, the augmented quartet becomes Red Hand.

OT Lounge is very proud to be the ONLY venue in Beijing that features pianist/composer Xia Jia. Xia is perhaps better known as Cui Jian's keyboard player but since returning to China from his studies at the Eastman School of Music under Harold Danko, he has been instrumental in setting the bar for the city's jazz scene as the keys in Red Hand Jazz Band and the conductor of the Beijing City Jazz Orchestra. Expect quirky arrangements and tongue-in-cheek interpretations of the standards the way in the lineage of Thelonious Monk and lots of originals by Christophe Lier, many with a Latin flavor.

Featuring guitarist Yasutaka Yoshioka (Japan)
Guitarist, composer, and educator,Yasutaka Yoshioka graduated first in his class from Berklee College of Music in jazz composition and arranging in 1986. In Tokyo, he has is the leader of his own group and has released 2 albums "The Island (1998)" and "Journey of my heart" (2003). As an educator he has released instructive videos, "Post bebop style improvisation for guitar" (1994) "Playing J. S. Bach with linear shifting technique"(1996). He also teaches at Tokyo Music & Media Arts College of Shobi, Studio Lung, specializing in jazz guitar, theory and workshops. Pianist Moreno Donadel worked with Yasutaka in the guitarist¡¯s ensemble, Guitar Moon.
